You can generally visit and use the Crate.io website without providing any personally identifiable information. When you request additional information about the Services or participate in a survey, Crate.io may collect certain contact information from you, such as name, organization name, address, email address, and phone number (collectively, “Contact Information”).
When you use CrateDB software we may receive (i) a unique identifier for each cluster, unless you disable this functionality in the CrateDB software; (ii) the unique MAC address for the system running CrateDB; and (iii) metadata regarding the amount of data stored in the database.
To receive support services and login to our support portal for CrateDB, you will be required to provide us with your Contact Information, username and password.
As you navigate the Crate.io website, Crate.io may also collect information through the use of commonly-used information-gathering tools, such as cookies and Web beacons (“Site Information”). Site Information includes standard information from your Web browser (such as browser type and browser language), your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, and the actions you take on the website (such as the Web pages viewed and the links clicked).

We may set a persistent cookie to store your Site Information. Persistent cookies enable us to track, store and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our website. If you reject cookies, you may still use our website, but your ability to use some areas of our website may be limited.
Crate.io currently does not track users over time and over our multiple webpages or applications. However, third party providers of external services like web traffic analysis services, such as Google Analytics or Marketo, may track users over time and over our website and third party websites and such third parties may also place cookies, via our website.

Your browser may offer you a “Do Not Track” option, which allows you to signal to operators of websites and web applications and services (including behavioral advertising services) that you do not wish such operators to track certain of your online activities over time and/or across different websites. Our website does not support or follow Do Not Track requests at this time.
Crate.io uses the Contact Information to provide the CrateDB software and support services to you. We also use your Contact Information to provide you with notices about our software that you have purchased and our software and/or services that you may wish to purchase. If you have requested information or if you participate in a survey, we will use your data and Contact Information to contact you and provide you the requested information and to manage the survey. You may opt-out of those communications by following the email opt-out instructions contained in each email.
We also may use your information that we collect to monitor, further develop, and improve the Services, detect fraud, illegal activities or security breaches and verify your authority to access the support portal. We may correlate your Site Information with your Contact Information or unique identifiers.
Your support portal account is protected by a password for your privacy and security.
We endeavor to protect the privacy of your account and other Personal Information we hold in our records, but unfortunately, we cannot guarantee complete security. To protect your data, we use reasonable measures such as encryption, secure socket layer, firewalls, password protection, physical lock and key and other internal restrictions on who may access data.
Crate.io may provide bulletin boards, blogs, or help forums on its website. Any personal information you choose to submit in such a forum may be read, collected, or used by others who visit these forums, and may be used to send you unsolicited messages. Crate.io is not responsible for the personal information you choose to submit in these forums.
We do not rent, sell or disclose your data to anyone – except for the following limited purposes:
Affiliates and Business Transfers: We may share your data with our affiliated entities within our corporate family. In some cases, we may choose to buy or sell assets. In these types of transactions, customer information is typically one of the business assets that are transferred. Moreover, if Crate.io, or substantially all of its assets, were acquired, or in the unlikely event that Crate.io goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, customer information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party.
Protection of Crate.io and Others: We may be required to release data pursuant to a lawful request by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements or when we believe in good faith that release is necessary to comply with the law; enforce or apply our conditions of use and other agreements; or protect the rights, property, or safety of Crate.io, our employees, our users, or others. Law enforcement officials who believe that notification would jeopardize an investigation should obtain an appropriate court order or other appropriate process establishing that notice is prohibited.
With Your Consent: Except as set forth above, you will be notified when your data may be shared with third parties, and will be able to prevent the sharing of this information. To limit the use and disclosure of your personal information you may opt-out by submitting a written request to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Crate.io’s accountability for personal data that it receives under the Privacy Shield and subsequently transfers to a third party is described in the Privacy Shield Principles. In particular, Crate.io remains responsible and liable under the Privacy Shield Principles if third-party agents that it engages to process the personal data on its behalf do so in a manner inconsistent with the Principles, unless Crate.io proves that it is not responsible for the event giving rise to the damage.
The Services are not targeted to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personally identifiable information from children under 13; if you are a child under 13, please do not use the Services or send any personal information about yourself to us. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that a child under 13 may have provided us personal information, please contact us at email@example.com.
You have the right to obtain our confirmation of whether we maintain personal information relating to you. Upon request, we will provide you with access to the personal information that we hold about you. You may also may correct, amend, or delete the personal information we hold about you. An individual who seeks access, or who seeks to correct, amend, or delete inaccurate data, should direct their query to firstname.lastname@example.org. If requested to remove data, we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Your right to access your Personal Data may be restricted in exceptional circumstances, including, but not limited to, when the burden or expense of providing this access would be disproportionate to the risks to your privacy in the case in question, or when the rights of persons other than you would be violated by the provision of such access. If we determine that your access should be restricted in a particular instance, we will provide you with an explanation of our determination and respond to any inquiries you may have.

If you do not receive timely acknowledgment of your complaint, or if your complaint is not satisfactorily addressed, please visit http://www.bbb.org/EU-privacy-shield/for-eu-consumers for more information and to file a complaint. Finally, as a last resort and in limited situations, EU and Swiss individuals may seek redress from the Privacy Shield Panel, a binding arbitration mechanism.
